The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a regional accreditation agency that oversees higher education institutions in the central United States, notified Muskegon Community College (MCC) that it has earned the highest rating possible following its recent review.
“To receive reaffirmation of accreditation with no required follow-up reporting is the ultimate recognition of MCC’s commitment to the success of its students,” said MCC Provost and Chief Student Services Officer, Dr. Tucker Brown. “This does not happen by accident, quite the contrary; this recognition is indicative of the dedication to excellence that MCC faculty and staff bring to work every day.”
According to ” The Higher Learning Commission (HLC)’s Open Pathway Assurance Review, a mid-cycle analysis conducted in Year 4 of the 10-year accreditation cycle to ensure institutions on this pathway continue to meet the Criteria for Accreditation with no recommended monitoring, “MCC fully met all “criteria for accreditation,” and the team did not identify any areas needing further review.
“We expect excellence and this is the result,” said Brown. “MCC provides top-quality educational experiences that transform lives and reverberate through our communities as we pursue our mission and vision.”
Accredited since 1926, Muskegon Community College is scheduled for its next comprehensive evaluation by the Higher Learning Commission in 2031.
MCC offers over 80 academic programs, including 49 associate degree paths and 33 certificate options. These programs are organized into six career pathways: Arts, Humanities & Communication; Business & Information Technology; Engineering/Manufacturing & Industrial Technology; Health Services; Human Services; and Math & Science.
