MCC Launches Centennial Celebration with Community Lake Cruise

Sunday, July 20, 2025
Muskegon Community College is kicking off a year of centennial events with a summer celebration on the water. The MCC Centennial Lake Cruise, hosted by the Foundation for MCC, sets sail Wednesday, July 23 aboard the AquaStar in downtown Muskegon.
As MCC approaches its 100th anniversary in 2026, the college is launching a series of events to recognize a century of academic excellence, student achievement, and community impact along the Lakeshore. This lake cruise marks the start of that celebration—and the community is invited.
Guests will enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Michigan, delicious appetizers, a cash bar, and live music from local band Legal Rehab. Boarding begins at 6:30 p.m., with the cruise lasting a couple of hours.
“We’re proud to invite the entire community to join us on the water as we kick off a year of honoring the people and partnerships that have made MCC what it is today,” said MCC Director of Development Richard Vanderputte-McPherson. “The Lake Cruise is the first of many opportunities to celebrate together, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our friends, alumni, and supporters across the Lakeshore.”
