Tuesday, January 27, 2026
Muskegon Community College continued its Lecture Series on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. with an event titled Pecha Kucha. The presentation took place in the Overbrook Theater on MCC’s main campus, located at 221 S. Quarterline Road.
Pecha Kucha is a storytelling and presentation format originating in Japan. The term translates loosely to “chit-chat” and is defined by a structured approach in which presenters use 20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds. The format emphasizes brevity and visual storytelling, encouraging speakers to focus on concise, engaging narratives. The concept was developed in Tokyo in 2003 by architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham as a way for young designers and artists to share work and ideas. Since its introduction, Pecha Kucha has expanded beyond the design community and is now used internationally across a wide range of disciplines
“This was our third year of Pecha Kucha, and it is slowly becoming a tradition at MCC,” said Muskegon Community College Philosophy Instructor Dr. Andrew Wible. “We have been pleasantly surprised by how well it has caught on here at MCC, and we were excited to bring it back again this year.”
This year’s lineup of speakers included:
Diana Osborn, MCC Board of Trustees Chair
Chip Vander Wier
Dr. Tucker Brown
Chad Lawie
Dr. Alan Steinman
Richard McPherson
Jen Wakely
Kiley Jackson
