MCC Welcomes Climate Change Education Solutions Summit to Campus

Tuesday, October 14, 2025

Muskegon Community College (MCC) invites educators, students, and community members to join the Climate Change Education Solutions Summit on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM. This year’s summit, themed “Rethinking the Role of Education in Times of Climate Emergency: Reflect, Repair, Regenerate,” will explore how education can drive meaningful climate action and community resilience.

Many environmentalists believe global climate change is already negatively affecting and is expected to have even more dramatic effects on the livelihoods and well-being of communities around the world. Adapting to the impacts that can no longer be prevented and preparing for inevitable risks are essential. The development of robust adaptation strategies to reduce human vulnerability must be balanced and coordinated with climate change mitigation and sustainable development priorities.

“Muskegon Community College is proud to discuss real solutions to the challenges of climate change,” said MCC Faculty Eric Carballido. “Ignoring climate change is not a solution — it’s a setback. By coming together to share knowledge and take action, we can empower our community to build a more sustainable and resilient future.”

Muskegon Community College encourages participation in this important conversation on the role of education in addressing climate change. Discussions will focus on developing just, equitable, and sustainable solutions to the global climate crisis that support both current and future generations.
