Summer Classes Help Students Stay on Track, Finish Faster

Tuesday, March 3, 2026

College students coming home from a four-year university, just getting started on their college journey, or anywhere in between are invited to enroll in summer classes at Muskegon Community College (MCC) beginning Friday, March 13, 2026. Classes start May 18, 2026, and run through August 10, 2026.

Summer enrollment provides students with a valuable opportunity to complete coursework that transfers to four-year colleges and universities. Selected courses in Astronomy, Math, Psychology, History, English, and Biology are available online or in person this summer to help students stay on track toward a bachelor’s degree.

MCC meanwhile, is encouraging students to explore programs aligned with high-demand career fields in West Michigan. Areas such as business, computer information systems, computer numerical control, and health services continue to see strong workforce demand and offer competitive wages and long-term career growth. These programs are designed to provide students with practical skills and credentials that translate directly to employment opportunities in the region.

In addition, the college says the warm summer months are a perfect time to fulfill a physical education activity requirement when courses like kayaking, pickleball, cycling, archery, and golf are available outdoors.

“Whether you are a graduating high school senior, looking to return to college, or are an adult seeking a new career path, it has never been a better time to enroll at MCC,” said Dan Rinsema-Sybenga, Dean of Academic Affairs. “With more than 80 programs and areas of study to choose from, students can discover their hidden talents, bring out their best selves, and pursue a career and job they truly love.”

MCC is reminding the community that free tuition may be available for many adults through the Muskegon Area Promise. Those aged 25 or over may also qualify for free (in-county) or half-off (out-of-county) tuition regardless of income or high school GPA.
