North Muskegon Police Chief to keynote MCC sponored Veterans Salute

Wednesday, October 28, 2026

Muskegon Community College (MCC) and local veterans service organizations will host the annual Veterans Salute on Wednesday, November. 11, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., bringing the community together to honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Open to the public, the free ceremony will take place at the MCC Health and Wellness Center, located at 221 south Quarterline Road in Muskegon. The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s keynote speaker is North Muskegon Police Chief Edward Viverette, who served more than 30 years in the Air Force Reserve. The program will include a rifle salute, the playing of Taps and reflections on the service, sacrifice and dedication of military veterans. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

“Veterans have given so much in service to our country, and we are honored to recognize their sacrifices and express our gratitude,” said MCC President Dr. John Selmon. “At Muskegon Community College, we proudly stand alongside our veterans and the organizations that support them. This annual gathering is an opportunity for our entire community to come together, reflect on the meaning of service and thank those who have helped protect the freedoms we enjoy.”

USS LST 393 Veterans Museum Director Ryan Lancaster will host the ceremony and serve as master of ceremonies.

MCC encourages community members, veterans, military families and supporters to attend this special tribute and join in recognizing the courage, commitment and service of the nation’s veterans.

Refreshments will be provided.
