MY BACKGROUND

Hometown: Grand Rapids, MI

Research and Professional Interests:

• Physical, visual, and memory rehabilitation with patients suffering from vestibular dysfunction
• Problems with chronic wound healing, especially as presented in patients with diabetes
• Effective use of technology in teaching introductory science classes
• Advocacy for individuals with physical disabilities

Academic Degrees:

• Ph.D. in Medical Sciences, University of Florida College of Medicine
• M.S. in Microbiology and Cell Sciences, University of Florida

• BIOL 152 – Human Anatomy

Why I chose to teach at MCC:
I started my educational journey at a community college and appreciate the life-changing impact an education can provide!

• Saxophonist
• 5 children and 3 grandkids
• Learned how to walk and drive again after complete bilateral vestibular loss
• Performed in two Super Bowl Halftime Shows
• Traveled as a short-term missionary to Romania, China, the Dominican Republic, West Bank, Turkey, Ukraine, and Mexico
