Small Business Owners to Share Key Insights for Future Entrepreneurs

Thursday, September 18, 2025

Muskegon Community College (MCC) invites the community to explore the power and potential of local entrepreneurship at “Going Local: Small Business,” a special panel discussion presented by the MCC Center for Experiential Learning. The event will take place Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 6:30 PM on MCC’s main campus, located at 221 S. Quarterline Rd. The event will feature four local entrepreneurs who will share their real-world experiences in starting and sustaining small businesses in the Muskegon Lakeshore area.

Participants will discuss the challenges and rewards of launching a business, offer advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, and highlight the role small businesses play in building strong, self-sustaining communities.

“Small businesses are the heart of the Lakeshore’s economy. They create jobs, spark innovation, and help build stronger, more resilient communities,” said MCC Faculty and Event Moderator, Christopher Vanoosterhout. “At MCC, we believe that when you combine education with entrepreneurship, you give people a real pathway to break free from generational and systemic financial challenges. Events like this are all about giving our students and community the tools and inspiration to take charge of their financial future.”

The panel will feature business leaders from Solace 49 Salon and Spa, Sanders Mobile Shop Food Truck, Ramos and Sons Auto Repair, and other local entrepreneurs.

“Going Local: Small Business” is ideal for anyone curious about starting their own business, interested in working for a local company, or looking to better understand the impact of entrepreneurship in their community,” Vanoosterhout said.
