Student Artists Shine in Centennial Exhibition

Friday, May 29, 2026

Muskegon Community College will celebrate student creativity and achievement with its Centennial Student Art Exhibition and Reception, featuring outstanding works produced by visual art students during the past academic year.

The exhibition will be held in the Overbrook Theater and Overbrook Gallery and will highlight a diverse collection of student artwork across multiple mediums. This year’s exhibition was juried by Benjamin Duke, who selected pieces representing the strongest examples of technical skill, creativity, and artistic expression.

A public reception will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. The awards ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m., recognizing exceptional student artists for their work and achievement.

Freshman Dawson LaBrenz says he is ecstatic to have one of his pieces be selected for the exhibit.

“I have loved the art program and the teachers I’ve had during my first year at Muskegon Community College,” LaBrenz said. “They’ve pushed me to grow as an artist and made me feel supported every step of the way.”

The exhibition will remain open to the public through September 3, 2026, offering visitors an extended opportunity to view the work of MCC’s emerging artists.
