"The God Debate: A Civil Discussion between a Theist and Atheist" takes place at Muskegon Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in Stevenson Center Room 1100.
Part of MCC’s 2013-14 Lecture Series, the talk is free and open to the public. The event is being held in conjunction with the concurrent 2013 Arts and Humanities Festival theme of “Faith and Reason.”
Dr. Kelly Clark from Grand Valley State University’s Kaufmann Interfaith Institute will debate Dr. Bruce Russell, a Philosophy Department faculty member at Wayne State University.
“They are two smart, nice, and strong-willed philosophers who love to argue about God’s existence,” explained Andy Wible, MCC faculty member and lecture organizer. “It should be an entertaining and informative debate."
Clark supports God’s existence and has published over 20 books and many articles that provide good reason to defend that viewpoint. Russell, meanwhile, has ardently argued for years in publications and in debates that solid evidence, such as the prevalent evil in the world, shows that God does not exist.
