Popular One-Man Show Brings Karl Marx to Life Tonight

Karl Marx comes back to life and launches into a passionate, funny and moving defense of his life and political ideas in Howard Zinn’s brilliant, timely play “Marx in Soho” tonight in MCC’s Overbrook Theater.

The play, which is free and open to the public, provides an excellent introduction to Marx’s life, his analysis of society, and his passion for radical change. Actor Bob Weick has portrayed Marx in more than 200 performances in various public and educational venues. He uses current news and events to show how Marx’s ideas still resonate today.

The 7 p.m. performance will be followed by a panel discussion, moderated by MCC instructor Nicholas Budimir, that includes faculty members George Maniates, Kurt Troutman and Andy Wible.

“Whether you agree or disagree, everyone can engage in an exciting learning experience,” says Budimir.

The event is co-sponsored by the MCC Lecture Series and the Department of Social Sciences. For more information, call (231) 777-0620.
