Continuing Education offers courses, workshops, seminars and special events to meet the lifelong learning needs of the community. Personal Enrichment

OPEN STUDIO PRINTMAKING

Open Studio: Fridays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Oct. 11-Dec. 6, 2019 (excludes Friday after Thanksgiving)

Students must have taken at least one Printmaking (either Intaglio or Relief) course from MCC in the past, students are being provided with space and time to pursue independent artwork, an instructor will be available for assistance, advice, and technical support. Included is the use of::

  • Primary colors, white, black, browns, and modifiers for oil-based printmaking ink
  • Glass slabs
  • Etching grounds
  • Solvents, rags, and cleaning materials
  • Vertical Ferric Chloride etching tanks (for copper plates 22×30” max)
  • Large Hotplate, Flat file storage
  • Brayers, palette knives and scrapers, gloves and safety equipment
  • 2-Conrad etching presses, 15×24” and 37×60”

Students must have taken at least one Ceramics course from MCC in the past, students are being provided with space and time to pursue independent artwork, an instructor will be available for assistance, advice, and technical support and will be conducting the firing of the kilns.Included:

  • 25lb. box of clay
  • Cone 6 glazes
  • 1 bisque firing
  • 1 glaze firing
  • 1 day of Raku firing
  • Shelf space for storage

Use of:

  • Slab roller
  • Coil extruder
  • Wedging table
  • Electric throwing wheels
  • Compressed air glazing booth

ILA INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Inclusive Leadership Academy seeks to train, and empower professional adults of color, and ultimately be a link for them to serve on prospective boards through the introduction of community resources and support. This program is designed to  promote  grassroots leaders and young professionals with the intent of creating a pipeline for diversity and inclusion on area boards and committees.
