Continuing Education offers courses, workshops, seminars and special events to meet the lifelong learning needs of the community. These non-credit educational classes emphasize professional development, personal enrichment and community outreach. HONORS ORCHESTRA

The Honors Orchestra is Symphony Orchestra with strings, winds and percussion. This is a performance ensemble for those with previous musical experience.  Auditions will be held for placement within the group and to verify that the student and ensemble are a reasonable match.  In addition to the weekly rehearsals the ensemble has 1-2 public performances per semester.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE

Ensemble dedicated to increasing the knowledge of jazz literature and improving skills in improvisation and ensemble playing through the preparation and performance of traditional and contemporary big-band jazz repertoire. In addition to the weekly rehearsals the ensemble performs two to four times per semester.

This is a performance ensemble for students with previous musical experience. Auditions will be held for placement within the group and to verify that the student and ensemble are a reasonable match. High standards of musical performance are upheld. There are performances held throughout the year for student and adult audiences.

OPEN STUDIO PRINTMAKING

Students must have taken at least one Printmaking (either Intaglio or Relief) course from MCC in the past, students are being provided with space and time to pursue independent artwork, an instructor will be available for assistance, advice, and technical support. Included is the use of::

  • Primary colors, white, black, browns, and modifiers for oil-based printmaking ink
  • Glass slabs
  • Etching grounds
  • Solvents, rags, and cleaning materials
  • Vertical Ferric Chloride etching tanks (for copper plates 22×30” max)
  • Large Hotplate, Flat file storage
  • Brayers, palette knives and scrapers, gloves and safety equipment
  • 2-Conrad etching presses, 15×24” and 37×60”

  • 25lb. box of clay
  • Cone 6 glazes
  • 1 bisque firing
  • 1 glaze firing
  • 1 day of Raku firing
  • Shelf space for storage

  • Slab roller
  • Coil extruder
  • Wedging table
  • Electric throwing wheels
  • Compressed air glazing booth

ILA INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Inclusive Leadership Academy seeks to train, and empower professional adults of color, and ultimately be a link for them to serve on prospective boards through the introduction of community resources and support. This program is designed to  promote  grassroots leaders and young professionals with the intent of creating a pipeline for diversity and inclusion on area boards and committees.
