The Jayhawk Men’s Basketball team dropped a tough 58-55 decision to Southwestern Michigan College at home on Saturday, 12/2.

The Jayhawks are slowly getting injured players back into the lineup; Jadakiss Lewis (Kalamazoo Central) returned from a knee sprain to lead all scorers with 22 points. Jacob May (Ravenna) played limited minutes and Jacob Mueller (Charlevoix) is still waiting to be cleared for action. MCC played great team defense, holding Southwestern to 33% shooting from the field and 17% from 3 point. Southwestern out rebounded MCC however, 40-27. The Jayhawks trailed 29-23 at half time but outscored the Roadrunners in the 2nd half 32-29. MCC had a chance to tie the score at the end of the game, but an untimely out-of-bounds call went against them and SMC held on for the win. Ben Clark (Potter’s House) had 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and William Chye (Mason County Central) added 7 points, 4 boards and 2 assists.

The Jayhawks record stands at 2-4 on the early season. They return to action on Tuesday, 12/5 when they travel to take on the Calvin University’s JV team.
