Ahfest Film Festival: Moonlight

On Wednesday evenings throughout October, the 2017 Muskegon Area Arts and Humanities Festival (ahfest) will show and discuss four films associated with WATER, the ahfest’s theme this year, at the Muskegon Museum of Art, 296 W Webster Ave. in downtown Muskegon. Admission is free and open to the public. Each movie will be followed by a brief discussion. All films begin promptly at 5 p.m., when the doors will be closed. Based on the Myths of Ovid and originally written and directed by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman, Metamorphoses brings Ovid’s tales to stunning visual life. Set in and around a large pool of water onstage, Metamorphoses juxtaposes the ancient and the contemporary in both language and image to reflect the variety and persistence of narrative in the face of inevitable change.

MCC Wind and Jazz Ensembles Perform at Frauenthal Center on Oct. 18

The Muskegon Community College Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will perform on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Frauenthal Center in downtown Muskegon. Tickets are $7 for adults and $2 for students. The Wind Ensemble, directed by Daniel M. Meyers, will perform four selections. Collegiates and College Singers Concert at Frauenthal Oct. 22

Two Muskegon Community College vocal groups, the Collegiates and the College Singers, will perform on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m. at the Frauenthal Center in downtown Muskegon. Tickets are $7 for the general public and $2 for students. Directed by Nicholas Palmer, the College Singers will perform six selections. Following a brief intermission, the Collegiates, directed by Dr. Richard Rischar, will perform three pieces.
