The Jayhawks opened play at Owens Community College with a split. They lost to defending National Champion Richard Bland College 3-1 with set scores of 25-23, 10-25, 13-25, 14-25. They defeated Harper College 3-2 with set scores of 23-25, 25-16, 26-24, 24-26, 15-12.
