The Jayhawk Women’s Soccer team lost the rematch with the Pioneers of Delta College at home 2-1.
Delta got on the board with a goal 26 minutes in for a 1-0 lead at the half. They connected again in the 2nd half before MCC scored their first goal of the season. McKenna Gentry (Muskegon Catholic Central) scored at the end of a quick counter attack assisted by Lydia Sowles (Mona Shores) with 18 minutes to play. Even though the Jayhawks dominated the possession in the 2nd half, they couldn’t get the equalizer. Brooke Bradley (Reeths-Puffer), Isabella Cifuentes (Zeeland West) and lainey Canan (Zeeland East) played outstanding games while Julie Hernandez (Fremont) had a goal-line clearance and Grace Caywood (Zeeland West) continued to sparkle in goal including a save on a penalty kick.
MCC is 0-3 on the early season. They will host Lake Michigan College on Friday, 9/1 at 4:00 pm.
