A total of $6,863 in event profits was generated for the Foundation for Muskegon Community College General Scholarship Fund by the participants, lunch guests and sponsors of the 2012 Annual Jayhawk Scramble held June 8 at University Park Golf Course.
The event, which attracted 15 four-member teams and several luncheon guests, showcased two MCC student luncheon speakers, Danielle Stewart and Chelsea Meloche, who spoke about the transformative effect of their scholarships. MCC President Dr. Dale Nesbary and Vice President for Student Services Dr. John Selmon also addressed the group.
“This fund increases access to higher education by providing scholarships to worthy students so that they can achieve their dreams,” said Tina Dee, director of community relations and the Foundation Director at MCC, in thanking the participants. “Dedicated community members like you have been assisting Muskegon Community College in meeting student and community needs for over 86 years. Your support not only helps develop student minds but builds stronger communities.”
The CBS Outdoor squad of Jeff Campbell, Viktor Anderson, Chris Churchill and Harold Coleman took first place in the scramble. Churchill also posted the longest drive for the men and won the Ultimate Muskegon Area 2012 Golfing Experience drawing. Rosemary Zink had the women’s longest drive, while Beth Dick registered the closest to the pin. On the men’s side, Jim Zolman’s drive finished closest to the pin. Ross Falkowski and Levi Byker shared top honors in the putting challenge.
