35th Annual Mayfest Coming to MCC Campus May 18

The 35th annual Mayfest, a family friendly event, comes to the Muskegon Community College campus on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Organized by MCC and the United Way of the Lakeshore along with a volunteer committee of representatives from a variety of area agencies and service clubs, Mayfest celebrates education by providing informative, fun-filled activities geared to youngsters.

“Kids will have a chance to tell us what they want to be when they grow up and then be directed to the exhibitors related to those careers,” said Amy James, this year’s Mayfest event coordinator. We have many exhibitors, performing acts and enough enjoyable activities to keep you busy all day.”

“Kids under 10 years of age are eligible for a $50 Toys R Us Gift card by coloring a Mayfest coloring sheet that can be downloaded at www.muskegoncc.edu/mayfest and brought to Mayfest,” said James. “Gift cards will be awarded in three different age groups: up to 4 years, 5-6 years and 7-10 years.”

Thousands annually attend the much-anticipated springtime event, she added, noting that they are treated to a firsthand experience of the young talent in our community.

“There will be a Goodwill truck here so you can bring your small electronics and have them recycled for free,” continued James. “Also, we are excited to be hosting the Scottville Clown Band this year.”
