Annual Studio on Stage Showcases MCC Students

The spotlight shines on MCC’s talented theater and dance students who will present their classroom creations or works in progress for the annual Studio on Stage at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, April 23-24 in Overbrook Theater.

Tickets are $3 and may be purchased at the MCC Overbrook Theater Box Office, 221 S. Quarterline Rd, in advance or on the day of the shows. Call (231) 777-0324 for more information.

This year’s theater performance will be a presentation of six short plays and will feature students enrolled in the Acting II course taught by MCC Instructor Sheila Wahamaki.  The plays being presented include:

  • The Individuality of Streetlamps by Anne K. Gorisch
  • Ferris Wheel by Mary Miller
  • Precipice by William Mastrosimone
  • Saturday Night by Christopher Shinn
  • Tape by Jose Rivera, and
  • Sure Thing by David Ives.

The MCC student actors are Shavonne Copeland, Ben Cyr, Jackson Fitzgerald, Caitlin Hagenbart-Buitendorp, Anthony Horton, Emily Irish, Joe Kostamo, Xavier Lane, Jena Powell, Dakotah Salazar, Navarrio Smith, and Tayler Zuidema.

The MCC Dance Department will present dance pieces choreographed by both faculty and students in the areas of jazz, ballet, and lyrical dance. Led by Dance Instructors Melissa Brunsting and Cathy Gamby, the MCC student dancers include: Suni Barnes, Jenna Curl, Jaylene Farber, Victoria Grant, Kaylynn Hall, Brandi Heykoop, Kelsey June, Kaylee McCollum, Kendra Peterson, Cherish Pittman, Melissa Macomber, Aimie Reinhold, Adam Robinson, and Tanischa Robinson.
