Baseball Coach Pohlman Reaches 500 Career Wins at MCC

Veteran MCC baseball skipper Cap Pohlman reached a milestone on Thursday, April 24, when his Jayhawks swept a doubleheader against Lake Michigan College to put him over 500 career wins at the college.

“Many thanks to all of my players of the past 16 years and to my many assistants who played a major part in building the program and helping develop fine young men,” said the grateful coach, whose team downed Lake Michigan 5-3 and 13-11.

Pohlman, who now owns a 501-306 career mark at MCC, was a standout pitcher at Central Michigan University, where he was later inducted into the CMU Hall of Fame. The Saginaw, Mich., native was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers and played in the minor leagues until sustaining a career-ending injury. He was an assistant coach at CMU and at Miami University in Ohio. He posted a 351-145 record in 18 years as a scholastic coach and was inducted in 2002 into the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
