MCC’s Muskegon Dance Company will join with guest performers from dANCEpROjECt for two evening performances, Friday and Saturday, April 19th and 20th at 7:30 p.m. in MCC’s Overbrook Theater. Tickets are $5 for MCC students and $10 for the general public.
Sarah C. Powell, an MCC instructor and Muskegon Dance Company Founder, directs the event which will showcase performances she developed. The concert also features the work of guest artist Steven Iannacone, director of dANCEpROjECt, a resident company of Hope College in Holland, Mich. Also included are works by Hannah Ferianc and Yessy Gomez, guest choreographers of Grand Rapids, as well as a piece arranged by Kaitlin VanderWest, a Muskegon Dance Company member and MCC student.
The concert offers a vast variety of contemporary works that explore elements of non-traditional partnering, improvisation, and innovative movement concepts in the disciplines of modern, ballet, jazz, and hip hop dance. The audience will experience many dance forms presented by high school and adult performers from across West Michigan.
