Three Muskegon Community College (MCC) student-athletes earned 4.0 GPAs last year and were among 2,702 student-athletes nationwide to be named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) 2022-23 All-Academic First Team. 

 

 

The All-Academic First Team athletes include Emily Mazurkiewicz (Women’s Cross Country), Tori Van Tamelen (Women’s Soccer), and Haley Zerlaut (Women’s Basketball/Softball). 

 

 

Additionally, ten student-athletes earned All-Academic Second Team honors with GPAs of 3.80 to 3.99. These athletes include Cade Alderink (Men’s Bowling/Esports), Gavin Anderson (Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field), Spencer Anderson (Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field),Gerrit Andrus Jr. (Wrestling), Alaina Canan (Women’s Soccer/Track & Field), Payton Dobben (Men’s Track & Field), Emma Dyer (Women’s Soccer), Emma Dykema (Women’s Soccer), Will Edwards (Men’s Soccer), Bailey Graham (Women’s Bowling), Neva Hundt (Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field), Calla Miller (Women’s Basketball), Ally Seiber (Women’s Basketball), Lydia Sowles (Women’s Soccer), Andrew Taylor (Golf), and Sarah Zielinski (Women’s Soccer). 

 

 

The Academic Third Team with GPAs from 3.60 to 3.79 includes Anna Bol (Women’s Basketball), Grace Caywood (Women’s Soccer), Natalie Erickson (Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field), Kaden George (Men’s Basketball), Parker Holt (Wrestling), Karleigh Jeffries (Women’s Basketball/Track & Field), Kendra Kieft (Volleyball), Lucas Linder (Baseball), Cody Matuz (Baseball), Ethan May (Men’s Bowling), Brianna Pastor (Softball), Kohen Porter (Men’s Soccer), Zach Pray (Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field), Yuna Soma (Women’s Basketball), Jack Stuart (Wrestling), and Jackson Williams (Baseball). 

 

 

Ten MCC teams were also named to the NJCAA Academic All-American Teams of the Year list based on their overall GPAs. These teams included Men’s Bowling, Women’s Bowling, Men’s Outdoor Track & Field, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Cross Country, Women’s Soccer, Men’s Indoor Track & Field, Women’s Outdoor Track & Field, Volleyball, and Women’s Indoor Track & Field. MCC Men’s Bowling earned the highest marks across the college’s teams with a collective GPA of 3.45.
