The results of the recently completed annual MCC TV Survey gave the Muskegon Community College-based station favorable rankings across the board:
- 75 percent of respondents rated MCC’s programming as good to excellent.
- 71 percent of the respondents rated MCC’s technical quality (audio and picture quality) as good to excellent.
- 75 percent of respondents rated MCC’s overall satisfaction as good to excellent
- 75 percent of the respondents rated MCC’s content and program variety as good to excellent.
Respondents indicated a desire for more local programming, specifically about MCC classes and programs, and less DWTV (English language news/magazine from Germany).
Toward that end, MCC TV has two new shows starting in April 2013. Adjunct instructor David Takitaki is returning with a new weekly show on local and national issues. Meanwhile, Ottawa County Administrator Al Vanderberg will host a show with business leaders and government officials on regional and government issues that affect our communities.
While staffing limitations prohibit MCC TV from producing more local origination or entertainment material, the MCC TV director will be meeting this spring with local producers who have expressed interest in adding shows on MCC TV.
MCC Survey Raffle Winner
Eric Rothoff, an MCC student, won a free HDTV after his name was drawn from among those who completed the annual MCC TV Survey in February.
“I watch MCC TV online because I live in the country and we don’t have cable,” said Rothoff. “I really like the international news. I lived overseas for 12 years in Kazakhstan. Getting the other side of the story helps balance the news we receive in the United States.”
