The Jayhawk Men’s Track & Field Team sent a contingent of 5 athletes to Gainesville, FL to compete at the NJCAA National Championship.
Bryce Turner (Stow-Munroe, OH) ran a season best PR of 48.7 in the 400m which also broke the school record. Turner was seeded 27th and finished 15th which was good enough for 2nd Team All-American Honors. Kyler Dean (Vicksburg) ran a PR and a new school record of 2:28.55 in the 1000m which was good enough for 11th in the country. Kyler came in seeded 22nd in the nation. That 11th place was good enough for 2nd team All-American Honors. Turner and Dean teamed up with Isaac Easter (West Ottawa) and Karlito McKinney (Big Rapids) to finish 18th in the country in the 4×400 and break the school record. They came in seeded 28th.
All in all the indoor season closed with 18 school records, 35+ collegiate PRs, 6 individuals qualifying in a total of 11 events for the national championships and 2 Second Team All-American performances.
The Jayhawks will now transition to outdoor season where they will head to Olivet on 4/6.
