The Jayhawk Softball Team defeated Bay Community College twice at home, 9-1 (6 innings) and 9-1 (5 innings).
In the home opener it was Hannah Aldred (Grand Haven) picking up the win, working all 6 innings and allowing a single run on 4 hits with 6 strikeouts. Willo Staal (Fruitport) was hot at the plate going 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. Andrea Romero (Oakridge) was 2-3 with a home run and Illeana Hatcher (Whitehall) was 2-4 and also clubbed a home run.
Lilli Goodrich (Ludington) got the start in game 2; she worked 4 innings and gave up 1 run on 6 hits with 3 strikeouts. Brooklyn Galdeen (Oakridge) pitched a perfect 5th inning with 1 strikeout. Galdeen totaled 5 RBI with a 2-3 day at the plate including a home run. Goodrich helped her own cause as she was 1-2 with 2 RBI and Staal and Hatcher were also 1-2.
The Jayhawks are 2-0 in conference play and 7-7 on the season. They will host Bay College to finish the season series on Friday, 3/29. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
