The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team defeated Alpena Community College 78-50 in a rescheduled game in Alpena, MI.

Right from the tip the Jayhawks played with intensity and jumped out to a 22-9 lead after the 1st quarter. Alpena picked up their play in the 2nd quarter but MCC held a 41-27 half time lead. The MCC offense stayed on point with a 24 point 3rd quarter and they cruised to the easy victory. “This was a good win today,” said Coach Jason Cooper. “The team really came out and hustled. We need to play with the same intensity tomorrow.” The Jayhawks got 26 points and 13 rebounds from Ty’veonna Davis (Muskegon). She also had 5 steals. McKena Wilson (Calvary Christian) finished with 20 points and Maiya Hill (GR Union) had 10 points, 6 boards and 4 assists.

MCC is 4-2 in conference play and 10-9 overall. They continue their northern trip with a game at Kirtland Community College on Saturday, 2/3 with tip off at 1:00 pm.
