In their last game before the start of conference play the Jayhawks dropped a contest by a score of 68-59 to the JV team from Spring Arbor University.

Both teams came out firing in the 1st quarter but MCC’s first half struggles were apparent in the 2nd quarter when they were outscored 19-9 and they trailed 38-27 at the half. MCC won the 3rd and 4th quarter but it wasn’t enough to overcome the poor 2nd quarter. “We played against a good team tonight,” said Coach Jason Cooper. “We battled and played hard on both ends of the floor but we are still working out the kinks as we prepare for the conference season”. Ty’veonna Davis (Muskegon) led the Jayhawk attack with 23 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 assists. Remi Sponseller (Farwell) finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds and Maiya Hill (GR Union) grabbed a team high 10 rebounds and added 5 assists.

MCC carries a 6-7 record into Northern Conference play. They travel to take on Alpena Community College on Saturday, 1/13 with tip off scheduled for 1:00 pm.
