The Jayhawk Women’s Soccer team shut out the Grand Rapids Community College at home by a score of 3-0.
MCC got on the scoreboard at the 21 minute mark in the first half when Lainey Canan (Zeeland East) fired in a goal off a great through ball from Tia Martinez (Zeeland West). Brooke Bradley (Reeths-Puffer) pounced on the goalie’s fumbled save a minute later for a 2-0 lead and she wrapped up the scoring in the second half when she finished a cross from Bella Cifuentes (Zeland West) to seal the win. Julie Hernandez (Fremont) played hard to help preserve the shutout and keeper Grace Caywood(Zeeland West) made 4 saves on 4 shots in goal.
MCC’s record stands at 5-8-1 in conference play and 7-8-1 overall. They will be taking on the Raiders again on Wednesday, 10/18 at 2:00 pm at Grand Rapids Community College.
