Wrestling at MCCAA Championships hosted by St. Clair CCC

MUSKEGON’S RICE ROBINS WINS MCCAA CONFERENCE TITLE – St. Clair County Community College – Port Huron, MI – MCCAA Wrestling Championships – January 27th, 2024.

The Jayhawk Wrestling team finished 4th at the MCCAA Championships led by Rice Robins (Holton) who was crowned the conference champion at 174 pounds. Robins knocked off the top seed from Southwestern Michigan College in overtime to win the title. “Rice has been wrestling well and we all had a good feeling about him taking this crown home,” Said Coach Cody Carpenter. “This gives him some momentum as we start to move deeper into the post-season.” Joe Perez (Lakeview) and Parker Holt (Whitehall) finshed 3rd at 133 pounds and 165 respectively. Hunter Leonard (Fruitport) also finished 3rd at 184. Riley Wentworth (Whitehall) was 4th at 149 pounds and Ryan Reno (Negaunee) was 4th at 157 pounds. Caleb O’Neal (Fruitport) fell just short of placement but did score a preliminary round win by fall to contribute to the 4th place finish.

The Jayhawks will host the Jayhawk Open on Sunday, 2/4 with wrestling starting at 9:30 am. Full results can be found by going to www.trackwrestling.com and searching MCCAA.
