CLARK, JOHNSON III, AND BECK LEAD JAYHAWK GRAPPLERS WITH 2 WINS EACH AT TRINE INVITE Trine University – Angola, IN – Trine University Invitational – November 11th, 2023
The Jayhawk wrestlers traveled to Trine University as the only junior college amongst a field of NCAA Division III and NAIA schools. The young group of Jayhawks were led by 3 freshman with two wins each in their respective weights with Ashton Clark (Lakewood) at 125 pounds, Gary Johnson III (Ravenna) at 165 pounds and Matt Beck (Plainwell) at 184 pounds. Rice Robins (Holton) and Ryan Reno (Negaunee) both added a win each to the total. “We wrestled well today for being the only junior college, but we have a lot of things to clean up and improve upon,” said Coach Cody Carpenter. “Wrestling these tough tournaments are going to pay dividends in the post-season.”
