MCC Hosts Welcome Days Aug. 20-21 for New Students

With classes starting on Aug. 27, MCC invites its new students to explore the campus, meet with faculty and other students, and enjoy some fun activities during Welcome Days on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 20-21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We’re giving new students a chance to come and mingle here at the college and get them started off on the right foot,” says Cindy Reuss, Dean of Enrollment Services at MCC.

On Monday, students can enjoy food and carnival activities in the courtyard area starting at 11 a.m. At noon, MCC President Dr. Dale Nesbary and Vice President for Student Services Dr. John Selmon will offer welcoming remarks in Collegiate Hall.  Vice President for Academic Affairs Teresa Sturrus will share her valuable tips for new students.  Students will be able to enjoy lunch. The College Bookstore opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, the first day that students can use their aid to purchase textbooks, and will remain open until 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, the fun continues. In addition to touring the campus and purchasing textbooks, students can participate in games of H.O.R.S.E. against the nationally ranked Jayhawk women’s basketball team players or compete in ping pong, arm wrestling, video games, Guitar Hero, and golf putting contests at various locales around campus.
