MCC Selects Former Muskegon Chronicle Building for Downtown Site

Muskegon Community College has signed a purchase agreement with The Herald Publishing Co. LLC and the owners of the former Muskegon Chronicle building, 981 Third St., to buy the building and an adjacent parking lot. The announcement was made during a special meeting of the MCC Board of Trustees on Thursday, Sept. 11. The identification of a downtown campus is a component of the College’s 2010-15 Facility Master Plan and is one of four projects approved by the voters in the November 2013 election.

Annual Founder’s Day Celebration Features Live Jazz

A much-anticipated autumn tradition returns on Thursday, Sept. 18, when the best local jazz musicians unite for a live performance as the Muskegon All-Star Review during the MCC 2014 Founder’s Day celebration at The Lake House. Tickets are only $19.26 and include hors d’oeuvres with all profits support the study of arts and humanities at MCC. The event, which runs from 6-8:30 p.m., includes a silent auction and a cash bar.

Informational Forum on Science Center Project Sept. 12

Clark Construction Company, which is building the new MCC Science Laboratory Center, will be holding a public Project Informational Forum on Friday, Sept. 12. The free event takes place from 2-3 p.m. in Stevenson Center Room 1100. General information will be provided on the project specifics, the bidding requirements and the schedule relative to the project.
