The Jayhawk Baseball team split a doubleheader at Mid Michigan College, winning the opener 7-3 before dropping the night cap by a score of 9-6.
Cody Matuz (Fruitport) started on the mound for MCC. He gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks with 10 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. The Jayhawks put up 10 hits with Tanner Tresemer (Zeeland East), Carter Hughes (Zeeland West), Nate Lovell (Tri-County) and Mason Brunworth (Mona Shores) each collecting 2 hits. Brunworth homored in the 4th and Javanni Johnson (Mona Shores) homored in the 7th.
In the nightcap MCC outhit Mid Michigan 13-8 but Jayhawk pitching also gave up 8 walks. Dayton Thomas (Ravenna) was 4-4 while Gabe Schooltz (Comstock Park) and Tresemer were each 2-4.
MCC is 2-4 in conference play and 3-12 overall. They return home to conclude the series with Mid Michigan on Sunday, 4/7 with a doubleheader that starts at 1:00 pm.
