The Jayhawk Men’s Basketball Team snapped their 5 game losing streak with a big win over conference opponent Kirtland Community College, 58-52.
MCC was able to return one of their injured starters to the line-up and they played solid defense in the first half to hold Kirtland to only 23 points for a 29-23 lead at the half. Kirtland made a run in the second half and led by 4 points with about 5 minutes left to play, but MCC was able to finish the game strong for the victory. Vern Nash III (Muskegon) led all scorers with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals and Jadakiss Lewis (Kalamazoo) finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.
The Jayhawks are now 2-5 in conference play and 8-13 overall. They will play at home Wednesday, 2/8 when they host Delta College at 7:30 pm.
