The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team defeated the Crusaders of Madonna University on the road by a final score of 61-57.

MCC jumped out to an early 8 point lead in the 1st quarter but the Crusaders battled back and trailed by 2 to start the 2nd quarter. MCC held a 30-24 lead at the half but Madonna outscored the Jayhawks in the 3rd quarter and the game remained tight all the way to the end. Coach Cooper said “it was a good win on the road tonight. We are still a work in progress, but the effort was their tonight.” MCC got a double double from Ty’veonna Davis (Muskegon) with 28 points and 11 rebounds. She also added 5 steals. Remi Sponseller (Farwell) had a good game with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Ali Phillips (Mona Shores) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

MCC is 1-1 for the early season. They return to action on Tuesday, 11/14 when they will host the Hope JV team at 6:00 pm.
