The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team traveled to Flint, MI for the Mott Round Ball Classic. They dropped their opening game to Schoolcraft College 71-52.
The Jayhawks struggled from the jump to get their momentum going against a good 6-1 Ocelots team. MCC trailed by 10 (36-26) at the half after allowing Schoolcraft to convert on 13 offensive boards. Schoolcraft continued to dominate the offensive boards as they opened up a commanding 57-42 lead after 3 quarters and they cruised to the win. “It was a tough game today, we didn’t play our best,” said Head Coach Jason Cooper. “You can’t play the way we did against a good team like Schoolcraft, but I believe we will respond better in our game tomorrow”. Ty’veonna Davis (Muskegon) scored 19 points and added 8 rebounds and 3 assists for MCC, followed by Remi Sponseller (Farwell) with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and a block.
The Jayhawks are now 5-4 on the season and they will face host Mott Community College on Saturday, 12/16 at 1:00 pm for their second game of the tournament.
