After a very slow start, the Muskegon Community College Women’s Basketball team roared back to defeat the Norse of Bay College at home by a score of 81-41.
MCC trailed the Norse at the end of the 1st quarter, 16-7 and still trailed at the half, 31-26 but the team was able to refocus and held Bay to a total of 10 points over the 3rd and 4th quarter while scoring 27 and 28 points respectively. “We had a slow start, but a good second half,” said Head Coach Jason Cooper. “We played hard and wanted it more.” Emmerson Goodin (Newaygo) scored 20 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, handed out 3 assists and had 4 steals to lead the Jayhawks. Calla Miller (Fremont) added 18 points, 4 boards, 3 assists and 5 steals and Karleigh Jeffries (Whitehall) finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kayla Fisk (Newaygo) and Haley Zerlaut (Fremont) each contributed 9 points.
MCC is 7-4 in conference play and 16-8 overall. They will host conference leaders Mid Michigan College on Wednesday, 2/22 at 5:30 pm.
