The Muskegon Community College Women’s Basketball team dropped a close decision to the Pioneers of Delta College, 58-54.
It was a low scoring game for both teams; the Jayhawks had a 12-8 lead after the 1st quarter and a 26-24 lead at half time. The 3rd quarter was pretty even, but Delta outscored MCC 22-17 in the 4th for the win. “It was a tough game tonight,” said Coach Jason Cooper. “We didn’t play our best game”. Emmerson Goodin (Newaygo) led the Jayhawks with 15 points and 8 rebounds, followed by Kendall Zoulek (Shelby) with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Karleigh Jeffries (Whitehall) also collected a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Calla Miller (Fremont) added 10 points, 3 assists and 4 steals.
MCC is now 5-3 in conference play and 14-7 overall. They drop into 3rd place in the conference with a road trip to Alpena Community College on Saturday, 2/11 at 1:00 pm.
