ROBINS 4th AT THE ART KRAFT MEMORIAL OPEN FOR JAYHAWK GRAPPLERS Triton College – River Grove, IL – Art Kraft Memorial Open – December 9th, 2023
Rice Robins (Holton) turned in an impressive quarterfinal victory over David Cox of Manchester College to make his way to the semifinals before falling to nationally ranked Mustafa Salimi of Triton College. He ended up finishing in fourth place on the day in the 174-pound bracket. Other Jayhawks picking up victories on the day were 125-pounder Ashton Clark (Lakewood) with 3 wins, 165-pounder Hunter Leonard (Fruitport) with 2 wins and 184-pounder Matt Beck (Plainwell) with 1 win. “We got some good experience in today and saw some of the teams that will be at our national qualifier, so it was good to see where we stack up right now,” said Coach Cody Carpenter. “The guys now know the work that needs to be put in if they want a shot at getting there.”
