Social workers, as part of the caring occupations, engage in a variety of practices assisting or evaluating people. Social workers may work in:
- human service departments
- hospitals
- mental health facilities
- drug rehabilitation
- foster care and adoption
- elder care, and
- a variety of other capacities in government, religious, or private practice.
