On their second day of competition at the Space Coast Games in Melbourne, FL the Jayhawk Softball Team won 1 game in extra innings and lost twice.

MCC defeated Rochester Community and Technical College in 8 innings by a final of 7-6. Hannah Aldred (Grand Haven) threw all 8 innings allowing 6 runs on 7 hits with 10 strikeouts and walking only 1.Willo Staal (Fruitport) was 3-4 at the plate and Aldred was also 3-4. Brooklyn Galdeen (Oakridge) was 2-4 with 2 RBI and Illeana Hatcher (Whitehall) was 2-5 including a triple and 2 RBI, including the single to score the winning run in the bottom of the 8th.

In game 2 the final was Hocking over MCC by a final of 6-2. Lilli Goodrich (Ludington) pitched a complete game giving up 6 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk. Willo Staal stayed hot, she finished 3-4 including a triple and Galdeen also had a triple and scored twice.

The score of the final game was Bryant and Stratton over MCC 5-0. Galdeen was the pitcher of record, she allowed 5 runs on 12 hits. MCC only managed 2 hits for the game, Willo Staal and Galdeen both tallied a single.

The Jayhawks are 2-3 so far this spring. They will be back in action on Thursday, 3/7 with 2 games.
