Overbrook Dance Theater in Concert XXVII at MCC

Tickets are now on sale for the Overbrook Dance Theater in Concert XXVII being held Friday and Saturday, April 4-5 at 7:30 p.m. in Overbrook Theater. Presented by the MCC Center for Theater, the concert will feature the works by alumni and current students, along with two new works in progress from Muskegon Dance Company, MCC’s resident dance company. Tickets are $10 for the public and $5 for MCC students, staff, and alumni.

Lt. Gov. Signs Bill Authorizing Construction of MCC Science Facilities Upgrades

On Friday, March 14, Lt. Governor Brian Calley signed Senate Bill 608, legislation authorizing Muskegon Community College to construct a 25,000-square-foot science laboratory and renovate 20,000 square feet of existing science facilities. Preston Pulliams Named 2014 MCC Distinguished Alumnus

Muskegon native Preston Pulliams, the former president of Oregon’s largest community college and former vice chancellor overseeing the State University of New York’s 30 community colleges, has been named the 2014 MCC Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. He will be honored May 1 at the Distinguished Alumni Award Dinner on campus and will also address graduates at the 2014 MCC Commencement on May 3 in Walker Arena.

Former U.S. Ambassador, Museum Director Discuss D-Day, Local WWII Hero

The World War II Lecture Series at MCC will focus March 17 on the D-Day invasion and will feature insights from a former U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Beyrle and John McGarry, the executive director of the Muskegon Lakeshore Museum Center. The talk, which is open to the public for a $5 donation to the museum or free for museum members, takes place from 6-8:30 p.m. at the USS Silversides Museum, 1346 Bluff St., in Muskegon
