Indoor Track & Field at GVSU Holiday Open
The Muskegon Community College Jayhawk Indoor Track & Field Teams opened the 2022-2023 campaign with the sprinters competing at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open. Indoor Track & Field at SVSU Classic
2023 started off with a lot of positives for the Jayhawk Men’s and Women’s Track teams at the Saginaw Valley State University Classic. For the men, Zachary Pray (Fruitport) picked up where he left off last season with a 1st place overall win in the men’s 400m dash (50.65). The Jayhawk Track & Field teams had a good showing at the Mike Lints Open at GVSU on Saturday, 1/21. On the men’s side there were 3 school records broken, led by Zac Pray (Fruitport) who ran the 400m dash in 49.63 which was good for a 2nd place finish overall. The Track & Field Teams competed at the Hillsdale College Wide Track Open on Saturday, 1/28. In the men’s events, Kyler Dean (Vicksburg) finished 3rd in the 3,000m run in a time of 9:07.51, good for a new school record. Indoor Track & Field at GRSHOF-Aquinas College
The Jayhawk Track & Field Teams traveled to Aquinas College to compete on Friday, 2/3. Kyler Dean (Vicksburg) continued to excel, placing 2nd overall in the mile with a time of 4:19.55c. That time is a national qualifying time and also a reset of his own school record. The Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Team competed in the Dick Small Invite at Defiance University for the NJCAA Region XII Championship. The Men’s Team had a dominating performance, winning both the Dick Small Invite as well as the Region XII title. A few members of the MCC Track & Field teams competed at GVSU as a tune-up for the NJCAA National Championship in Topeka, KS. Isaac Easter (West Ottawa) broke his own long jump record with a jump of 6.75m and finished 2nd overall. Indoor Track & Field NJCAA National Championship
Muskegon Community College sent three Jayhawks to compete at the NJCAA Division 1 National Championships in Topeka, KS. Freshman pole vaulter Gavin Anderson (Oakridge) started the competition seeded 17th but he soared to new heights and finished 7th in the nation on the way to All-American status.
