Thanks to the generosity of Reach for the Stars campaign donors, the stunning IMAX-like Carr Fles Planetarium has been thrilling visitors since it reopened on Sept. 11.

Students, community members, and other friends of MCC are encouraged to attend the college’s most important event of the year. In recognition of its 1926 founding, MCC will host its second annual Founder’s Day, a Roaring Twenties-style event, at The Lake House in downtown Muskegon on Thursday, September 20, 2012. From 6-8:30 p.m., attendees will experience live jazz, fabulous hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, candy girls, flappers and a host of 1920s characters. MCC President Dale K. Nesbary, Ph.D., will deliver a brief State of the College address at 6:30 p.m.

With classes starting on Aug. 27, MCC invites its new students to explore the campus, meet with faculty and other students, and enjoy some fun activities during Welcome Days on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 20-21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. “We’re giving new students a chance to come and mingle here at the college and get them started off on the right foot,” says Cindy Reuss, Dean of Enrollment Services at MCC.

A free public reception will be held in Overbrook Art Gallery on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 6-7:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., GVSU assistant art professor Brett Colley will discuss his large-scale animal portraits that are currently on display.
