The 13th ranked Muskegon Community College Jayhawks dropped a road game to the #2 Pioneers of Delta College (Division III) by a final score of 5-0. The first half of the game was an intense back and forth battle between the teams with Delta getting on the board with 30 seconds to play in the half. The Jayhawk Women’s Soccer team lost the rematch with the Pioneers of Delta College at home 2-1. Delta got on the board with a goal 26 minutes in for a 1-0 lead at the half. The Women’s Soccer team claimed their first victory of the young season with a thrilling 3-2 win over Lake Michigan College at home. Lake Michigan got on the board first 13 minutes into the game, but the Jayhawks responded in the 22nd minute with a goal by Marissa Strandberg (Whitehall) off an assist from McKenna Gentry (Muskegon Catholic Central). The Women’s Soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Jets from Jackson College. MCC is now 1-4 in conference play and 1-4 overall. They will host Schoolcraft College on Tuesday, 9/12 at Orchard View High School. The game will be a doubleheader with the men’s team starting at 2:00 pm and the women’s game kicking off after the men’s game concludes.

The Women’s Soccer team lost to Schoolcraft College 5-1. Lainey Canan (Zeeland East) scored the lone goal for the Jayhawks, assisted by Emma Peterson (Montague). MCC is now 1-5 in conference play and 1-5 overall. They return to action on Friday, 9/15 when they host Owens Community College at Orchard View High School. Game time is 4:00 pm.

The Jayhawk Women’s Soccer team held Owens Community College scoreless in a 2-0 home victory. MCC got goals from Bella Cifuentes (Zeeland West) assisted by Lainey Canan (Zeeland East) as well as an unassisted goal from Marissa Calderon (Ravenna). MCC returns to action with a home game on Sunday, 9/17 at 1:00 pm vs. Marian University’s Ancilla College.

The Jayhawk Women’s Soccer team finished the weekend with a dominant win over Marion University’s Ancilla College, 3-0. MCC got a first half goal from McKenna Gentry (Muskegon Catholic Central), unassisted, as well as goals in the second half from Isabella Cifuentes (Zeeland West) assisted by Gentry and Lainey Canan (Zeeland East) assisted by Cifuentes. The Jayhawk Women’s Soccer team played to a 0-0 tie with the host team from St. Clair County Community College. MCC is now 2-5-1 in conference play and 3-5-1 overall. They have an opportunity to get into the win column on Saturday, 9/23 when St. Clair makes the return trip to Muskegon. Game time is 1:00 pm at Orchard View High School.
