College Success Seminar (CSS)

CSS 100 is highly recommended for students who need assistance navigating college. It is recommended for ALL students during their first semester at MCC. This course helps students develop, apply, and evaluate their own skills, abilities, and behaviors to achieve academic and personal success: effective note taking, productive study skills & test preparation, reading and remembering, critical thinking, library skills, navigating online course content, free career and job resources, stress management, relationships, connecting with campus resources, and winning attitudes.

Math Support

If you need a review of your basic math skills, are a bit apprehensive about enrolling in a 100-level math course, or need to retake a placement test, the College Success Center offers several options for you. 

Reading and Writing

Integrated Reading and Writing is a support course for students enrolled in ENG 101.  The course focuses on the development of effective critical thinking, reading, and writing skills.

Writing Center

MCC’s Writing Center offers a non-threatening atmosphere where students can discuss their writing in all stages of the writing process. Professional tutors can assist with basic grammar questions, essay development, citing format, research techniques, and other writing concerns. Take advantage of this FREE service. Hours are posted on this website and on bulletin boards around campus.

Tutoring Services

MCC’s Tutoring Services is staffed by peer tutors who are students just like you! The purpose of our services is to provide academic support to MCC students. Tutors are available both on campus and online and can help in a wide range of content areas, as well as offer general study support. Meeting with a tutor helps enrich your educational experience and can promote understanding as you advance in your studies. Whether you’re feeling on top of your learning or a little behind, meeting with a tutor is a great way to stay on task or help you get on track.
