The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team won a close game 60-56 over the Hope College JV squad. MCC’s offense came out on fire and scored 22 points in the 1st quarter while giving up 18. The offense cooled slightly in the 2nd quarter but the defense stepped up and the Jayhawks enjoyed a 36-26 half time lead. The Golden Eagles jumped out to an 8-2 lead early, but MCC battled back, giving up only 2 additional points in the 1st quarter while score 20 for a 22-10 lead after one. MCC has battled illness and injury but they were able to jump out to a 17-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and they held a 27-18 lead at the half. The Muskegon Community College Women’s Basketball team beat Southwestern Michigan College 64-59 in Bartels-Rode Gymnasium. The Jayhawks used momentum from Wednesday night’s game to jump out to 24-21 lead after the 1st quarter. The teams were evenly matched with both teams scoring 10 points in the 2nd quarter and 15 points in the 3rd quarter. The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team traveled to Flint, MI for the Mott Round Ball Classic. They dropped their opening game to Schoolcraft College 71-52. The Jayhawks struggled from the jump to get their momentum going against a good 6-1 Ocelots team.
